About Madison
Madison began playing classical violin at the age of four, undergoing several different teachers over the years and using the Suzuki Method for learning the violin. Upon moving from Boise to Parma at the age of eight, she resumed her violin training, but dove into the little pit that every instrument-learner tends to go through… she wasn't having fun with her music any more. {all the songs started to sound the same, and were no fun to practice!} After researching different options, she finally switched over to fiddling and joined the Junior Jammer Fiddlers. And… she loved it! She has now been playing this wonderful instrument for fourteen years altogether and is currently enjoying fiddling with her three brothers and little sister in their family band, teaching fiddle, continuing her classical playing, and branching out to other instruments. She also competes at the Idaho Open Fiddle Contest, and recently enjoyed competing with a Classical piece at an ACE student convention. She also loves to sing and has been a part of the Treasure Valley Young Artists for 10 years. http://wwwtreasurevalleyyoungartists.com |
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the difference between a fiddle and a violin?
Answer: The only difference between fiddle and violin is the style of music. The instruments themselves are the same, although some adjustments may be made to the instrument to suit the style. For example, fiddlers have more muted sounding strings for playing fast, straight, hoedowns, while a violinist might have strings that ring out more for dramatic classical pieces. Do you teach Classical as well? Answer: Yes. However, during the first year or so of lessons, we will stick with more of a fiddle curriculum, because fiddling is my focus. If as the student advances in skill he or she would like to learn some basics of Classical playing as well, I will certainly comply! |
